About Story

History
Our Story

Born from a vision to serve those left behind.

In 1969, when much of India's rural landscape was invisible to policy and development, a small group of thinkers set out with a singular conviction that the villages of Bharat could and must lead their own transformation.

Founded under the guiding light of Rabindranath Tagore's humanism, Mahatma Gandhi's Gram Swaraj and the moral force of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, TSRD was created to walk with rural communities rather than for them.

More than five decades later, that vision has evolved into a people-centric movement across West Bengal and Jharkhand, empowering women, strengthening livelihoods, nurturing education and ensuring healthcare reaches those who need it the most.

Our Method

How change happens.

A six-stage rhythm of listening, building and letting go — refined across five decades of practice.

01

Community Assessment

We arrive to listen — mapping needs, assets and aspirations with the village itself.

02

Participatory Planning

Plans are drawn together with women, farmers and youth, never in isolation.

03

Institution Building

SHGs, FPOs, village committees — the vessels that will outlive any project.

04

Program Execution

Livelihoods, education, health, ecology — delivered as one integrated fabric.

05

Capacity Building

Skills, leadership, and confidence handed to the community for good.

06

Monitoring & Scale-Up

Evidence-led course correction and quiet, deliberate scaling.

Impact

Real numbers.
Real lives.

Measured in soil, community change — measured in generations, but in the numbers that together tell the story.
