Nandigram Block · Purba Medinipur

From daily wage to enterprise owner

Challenge

Landless women depended on seasonal wage labour with average monthly earnings of ₹1,800 and no access to formal credit.

Solution

TSRD organised 42 SHGs, linked them to bank credit, and set up a shared tailoring and handloom production unit with market linkage.

Impact

3,140 women now earn a stable income; the cluster supplies three state retail chains.

I no longer wait for work to find me. Eleven women in my village work with me now.
